Ernest Borgnine tapped for SAG’s lifetime achievement award

Now Ernest Borgnine, 93, will be honored with the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award during the 17th Annual SAG Awards, scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 at 8 p.m. “Whether portraying brutish villains, sympathetic everymen, complex leaders or hapless heroes, Ernest Borgnine has brought a boundless energy which, at 93, is still a hallmark of his remarkably busy life and career,” Screen Actors Guild National President Ken Howard said in a released statement. “It is with that same joyous spirit that we salute his impressive body of work and his steadfast generosity.” Borgnine’s career has spanned decades. He has collaborated with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Joan Crawford, Gary Cooper, and Burt Lancaster. His impressive credits range from “The Dirty Dozen” to “Escape from New York” and “The Poseidon Adventure.” His latest film, “Red,” stars Bruce Willis, Mary-Louise Parker, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, Richard Dreyfuss and Brian Cox.
